Timing

( number of products: 63 )

What are the risks of changing the timing on a motorcycle?

First of all, in the worst case scenario, the timing chain may be broken, which may destroy other engine components such as the head, piston, valves.

So how can you tell if your timing chain needs to be replaced? Let's start with the fact that it is worth observing the service intervals found in the service books of each motorcycle. Additionally, a stretched and worn-out timing chain may causevibrations and noisefrom the timing cover area. You may also hear a grinding or rattling sound when the engine speed is suddenly reduced. Certainly the most common symptom of timing chain wear is the shifting of the timing phases, which results in uneven engine operation.

How is the timing system constructed?

Its main element is thecamshaft (some engines have two camshafts). Cams are attached to the camshafts, which are designed to open the intake or exhaust valves.

Another element of the engine system is the timing chain mentioned above. It is mounted on thecamshaft sprocketand on the smaller gear, which is mounted on the crankshaft.

Going further we find the timing tensioner, which can be mechanical or automatic. The timing tensioner applies pressure to the timing chain slides, which place the timing chain in place.

This is more or less what the entire motorcycle timing looks like.

Our offer includes all spare parts for the timing of your motorcycle. Thanks to this, you will be able to effectively service the engine and be sure that your driving will not be disturbed by sudden strange noises from under the valve cover.
