Exhaust springs are small but crucial elements of every cross and enduro motorcycle. They are responsible for a tight and flexible connection betweenthe collector, the diffuser and the muffler. At Bajamoto you will find exhaust springs from the best manufacturers: DRC, Prox, FMF, Pro Circuit, Athena and All Balls - adapted to 2T and 4T motorcycles.
Why are exhaust springs so important?
Springs maintain stable tension between the elements of the exhaust system. During engine operation, they absorb vibrations and prevent leaking of connections. However, over time they lose elasticity or corrode, which leads to problems such as:
- leaking of the collector and muffler connections,
- exhaust gas blow-by and power loss,
- excessive vibration of the exhaust system,
- cracks or looseness of the diffuser.
Regular replacement of exhaust springs is a simple way to maintain tightness, silence and durability of the entire system.
Types of exhaust springs
- Standard springs 80–100 mm – used in most cross and enduro motorcycles
- Reinforced springs – with increased tension force, ideal for 4T motorcycles
- Coated springs – resistant to corrosion and high temperature
- Springs with hooks – facilitate assembly and disassembly of the muffler or diffuser,
- Spring sets – complete packages of 2-4 pcs. with mounting hooks.
Best brands of exhaust springs
- DRC – galvanized steel springs with high resistance to corrosion and temperature,
- FMF Racing – original springs for Powercore and Q4 systems,
- Prox – OEM replacement springs with high elasticity and durability
- Pro Circuit – spring sets for R-304, Ti-6 and T-6 mufflers
- Athena – exhaust springs in service kits for European and Japanese motorcycles.
How to choose springs for your motorcycle?
Springs vary in length and tension strength - at Bajamoto you will find models dedicated to:
- KTM EXC/SX/SX-F – DRC and FMF springs, 90 mm long,
- Husqvarna TE/FE/FC – Prox and FMF galvanized springs
- Honda CRF – Pro Circuit and Athena sets
- Yamaha YZ-F/WR-F – DRC springs 85–95 mm,
- GasGas EC/MC – universal Prox and All Balls spring sets.
Installation and maintenance
It is worth using special DRC service hooks to install muffler springs - they make work easier and protect your hands. To extend the life of the springs, it is worth covering them with a thin layer of copper or silicone grease before installation - this will prevent corrosion and increase flexibility.
Small element, big impact
Although the exhaust springs are small, their condition determines the tightness, sound and durability of the entire system. Choose proven DRC, Prox, FMF and Pro Circuit brands - chosen by MXGP competitors and enduro enthusiasts. Take care of the details that make the difference - because strength begins with tightness!
