Why are shaft bearings so important?

The bearings constitute the sliding surface between the crankshaft and the engine block. Their task is to reduce friction and dissipate heat in places of greatest load. Too much clearance or wear of the bearings leads to a drop in oil pressure, noise and, ultimately, engine seizure. Therefore, during each renovation of the lower part of the engine, it is recommended to replace the crankshaft bearings together with crankshaft and shaft bearings.
