Radiator protection nets are a simple, high-impact upgrade for MX/enduro/off-road bikes that spend their life in roost, mud and tight woods. They sit in front of the radiator to catch stones, sand and debris before it bends fins or punches a core. That means more consistent cooling on slow technical climbs, fewer overheats in deep ruts, and less time straightening fins in the pits after a hard moto. If you ride with goggles, jersey and body armor in hot conditions, keeping airflow stable is the difference between finishing a loop and boiling over.
When choosing a net, start with fit and compatibility: it must match your bike’s radiator size and shroud setup without rubbing the fan, hoses or cap. Look at material and type—fine mesh blocks more grit, while a slightly more open weave can improve airflow for high-speed sand sections. Consider your riding conditions: heavy clay and wet forest trails call for a net that clears easily, while rocky tracks demand stronger, impact-resistant mesh. Maintenance matters too: pick a design you can remove and wash quickly so it doesn’t become a mud blanket that raises temps.
Common mistakes are running a clogged net for “one more ride” or installing it loose so it vibrates into the fins. Check it after every wash for torn mesh, bent mounting points and trapped debris around the edges, and replace it if it won’t sit flat or if airflow is visibly restricted.
Tip: After a muddy ride, flush the net from the back side first—pushing mud out the way it came in restores airflow faster.
