Main jets motocross and enduro - power and precision fuel dosage
( number of products: 148 )Main nozzles are the primary fuel metering jets in your carburetor, controlling mixture from mid-throttle into wide-open on MX/off-road bikes. The right main jet keeps your engine crisp under load, prevents lean surging and overheating on long sand pulls, and stops that boggy, plug-fouling richness that kills throttle response. If your bike feels flat on top, detonates on hard pulls, or changes behavior with weather and altitude, main nozzle tuning is often the quickest fix before you start chasing needles and ignition.
When choosing a main nozzle, start with fit and compatibility: match the jet type and series to your carb model (wrong thread/length won’t meter correctly). Then select size in small steps to suit your setup—pipe, reeds, airbox, and fuel type all shift demand. Riding conditions matter: cold dense air and low elevation usually need richer jetting; hot days, high altitude, and tight woods often prefer leaner. Stick to quality brass with accurate sizing, and keep maintenance in mind—clean fuel, a healthy filter, and a flushed float bowl make jetting changes predictable.
Common mistakes include swapping sizes too far at once, tuning with a dirty air filter, or ignoring symptoms of water/debris in the carb that mimic bad jetting. Replace the nozzle if the slot is damaged, threads are worn, or if you’ve had repeated contamination; also check float height and the needle/seat if jetting changes don’t respond as expected.
Tip: Do plug checks after a full-throttle pull in the gear you actually race, then change only one jet size at a time.
