Motocross and enduro ignition coils - strong spark, reliable ignition, maximum power

Ignition coils are the high-voltage workhorses of your MX/off-road bike’s ignition system, turning battery or stator power into the spark your plug needs under load. A weak coil can cause hard starting, random misfires, bogging when you crack the throttle, and power loss that feels like a fuel or jetting problem. If your bike runs rough after a deep water crossing, cuts out when hot, or won’t rev cleanly, the coil and its lead are a smart place to start—right alongside the plug and cap. When choosing an ignition coil, match exact fit and compatibility to your make, model, year, and ignition type (OEM-style replacement vs performance coil if your setup supports it). Pay attention to connector style, mounting points, and whether the coil includes the high-tension lead and plug cap or reuses yours. Look for solid insulation and heat resistance for tight frames and long motos, plus good sealing if you ride sand, mud, and creek beds. If you service your bike often, choose a coil with durable wiring and strain relief to handle repeated tank/airbox removal. Common mistakes include chasing carb settings while ignoring a cracked coil body, corroded connectors, or a loose ground. Replace the coil if you see arcing marks, swelling, brittle wiring, or if misfires worsen as the bike heats up. Also check the plug cap resistance, the spark plug gap, and routing—pinched leads under the tank can mimic a failing coil. Tip: After washing, pull the plug cap, dry it, and add a small amount of dielectric grease to the boot to prevent moisture-triggered misfires.
